AceLeads legal
Terms of use
The rules for using this website. There are separate pages for people looking for work and for employers advertising, because the two relationships are genuinely different.
1. What this site is
AceLeads Jobs is a place where employers advertise jobs in adult social care and in HGV and logistics driving, and where people read those adverts and decide for themselves whether to apply. We are not a party to anything that follows. We do not interview, assess, select or put anyone forward, and we are not a recruitment agency.
Using the site means accepting these terms. If you register for alerts, the terms for people looking for work also apply. If you advertise a job, the advertiser terms also apply.
2. What we check, and what we do not
Every advert is checked against the sectors licensed by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority. Work in agriculture, horticulture, shellfish gathering and food and drink processing and packaging is refused outright, and adverts that look close to that line are held for a person to look at rather than published automatically. The check is on the job, not on the business, because a driving job can sit inside a food processing company.
Beyond that, an advert is the advertiser's statement, not ours. We do not verify pay rates, hours, job titles, licence requirements, or whether the job exists. An advertiser agrees that its advert is accurate and lawful, but agreement is not verification and we do not want you to read it as if it were.
[NEEDS HUMAN SIGN-OFF] What is verified about an advertiser before its first advert goes live is an open decision. It has to go far enough to keep fraudulent adverts off a site aimed at care and driving work, and stop short of taking on the checking duties that belong to an employment agency. Those two pull in opposite directions, which is why it needs a legal view rather than a product one.
3. Adverts that are not what they seem
Job advert fraud is real and it targets exactly the kinds of work advertised here. Some rules worth keeping, wherever you are applying:
- You are never charged for a job through this site. If anyone asks you for money for a job, for training you must buy to get the job, or for a fee to be put forward, something is wrong.
- An employer does not need your bank details to interview you.
- An offer that arrives without an interview, or a request to move the conversation to a messaging app straight away, is worth slowing down for.
- If an advert on this site does any of that, tell us and we will take it down and look at every other advert from the same advertiser.
[NEEDS HUMAN SIGN-OFF] Add the reporting route once a monitored contact address exists, and decide whether to point people to the national jobs advert fraud reporting service.
4. Using the site properly
Do not:
- Scrape, copy or republish adverts in bulk, or use anything here to build a competing listing service.
- Apply for jobs on someone else's behalf without their knowledge, or send an application containing someone else's personal details.
- Try to reach data that is not shown to you, interfere with the site, or get around the anti-spam checks.
- Use any contact details in an advert to sell something to the advertiser.
We can remove content and block access if any of that happens.
5. Content and data on these pages
The writing and design on this site belong to HDCH Limited. Each advert belongs to the advertiser that placed it.
The workforce and earnings figures shown on our local pages contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Each page names the publisher and the year of the figures it shows, so you can go and check them.
6. Availability
We try to keep the site up and we do not promise that it always will be. Adverts close, expire and get withdrawn, sometimes between you reading one and applying to it.
7. Responsibility and its limits
What we are responsible for is running this site and handling your data properly. We are not responsible for what an employer does, for whether a job turns out as described, for a recruitment decision, or for the terms of any work you take.
[NEEDS HUMAN SIGN-OFF] The liability clause itself is not drafted. A cap, the carve-outs that cannot be excluded, and the treatment of a consumer user as distinct from a business user are all for a solicitor. The paragraph above is a plain-language statement of intent, not a limitation clause.
8. Law and jurisdiction
These terms are intended to be governed by the law of England and Wales.
[NEEDS HUMAN SIGN-OFF] Confirm the governing law and the jurisdiction clause, and check how they work for a user in Scotland, given that the site advertises jobs in Scotland and a consumer generally keeps the protection of their home courts.
9. Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, we will say so on the site rather than changing the date quietly and leaving you to notice.
