Terms for people looking for work

1. It costs you nothing. Ever.

Always free for job seekers. Employers pay to advertise.

There is no charge to register, no charge to apply, no premium listing, no paid upgrade and no service you can buy from us. There is no code anywhere on this site that could take money from a work-seeker, because charging a work-seeker for finding work is a criminal offence in the United Kingdom and has been since 1973.

Anyone claiming to be us and asking you for money is not us. Tell us and we will deal with it.

2. What an alert is

You pick categories of work and areas. When an employer advertises something in one of them, you get an email with a link to that advert. You read it and you decide. That is the whole service.

An alert is not an offer, not an invitation to interview, and not a sign that anybody has looked at you. Nobody has. No employer can see your registration or search it.

3. What applying does

Applying sends what you filled in, and your CV if you attached one, to the employer that placed that one advert. It reaches that employer and nobody else, and it is only ever for the job you applied to. We tell advertisers in writing that using an application for any other purpose is prohibited.

We cannot make an employer reply. Plenty do not, and that has nothing to do with you. If you want your application pulled back at our end, ask us and we will delete what we hold, then tell you how to reach the employer about the copy they have.

4. What we will never do

• We will never send your details to an employer whose advert you did not apply to.
• We will never sell your details, and we will never pass them to anyone for their own marketing.
• We will never put you forward for a job, or tell an employer that you are suitable for one. That judgement is not ours to make and making it would change what this business legally is.
• We will never ask you for a CV in order to register. A CV is only ever asked for on an advert you have chosen.
• We will never charge you anything.

The short way to say all of that: this is a place where jobs are advertised. We are not a recruitment agency. You find the job, you decide, and you apply to the employer yourself.

5. What we ask of you

• Apply for yourself, using your own details.
• Give an employer information that is true. That is between you and them, but an application that is not honest helps nobody.
• Use an email address you actually read, because that is where every alert goes.

6. Stopping

Every alert email has an unsubscribe link, and most email apps will also show their own unsubscribe button on it. Either way it takes one action, with no sign-in and no questions. The settings link in the same email lets you change what you hear about instead, or delete everything we hold in one go. What deleting does, and the one small thing that survives it, is set out in the privacy notice.

You can read and apply for every job on this site without registering at all. That is what makes the tick on the alerts box a genuine choice rather than a toll gate.

7. We are not your employer, and not a party to the job

Anything that follows from an application is between you and the employer: the interview, the offer, the contract, the pay, the hours and any dispute about them. We have no role in it and no say over it. If an advert on this site turns out to be misleading, tell us, because that is about our site and we will act on it.
