HGV class 1 driver jobs in Leicestershire

Of the freight transport by road employee jobs the 2024 survey splits by hours in Leicestershire, 900 are part time, 20.5% of the split. The middle across the East Midlands is 20.3%, so Leicestershire sits level with it, 5th of 10 areas on this measure. A part-time share that size usually reflects weekend trunking and relief cover counted alongside the permanent fleet.

Two further counts round out the Leicestershire picture: 5,050 employee jobs in postal and courier activities, and 26,550 employee jobs across freight, warehousing and courier work.

Measured on employee jobs in freight transport by road, Leicestershire ranks 2nd of the 10 areas in the East Midlands. The middle across the East Midlands is 3,000, against 4,500 in Leicestershire. Across the 153 areas in England the middle is 900. Next to Leicestershire in that order sit Lincolnshire at 6,000 and Derbyshire at 4,000.

On the separate business register count of freight transport by road workplaces, Leicestershire ranks 3rd of the 10 areas in the East Midlands. The middle across the East Midlands is 598, against 720 in Leicestershire. Across the 153 areas in England the middle is 200. Next to Leicestershire in that order sit West Northamptonshire at 770 and Derbyshire at 640.

None of this counts adverts. It counts 4,500 jobs and 720 workplaces that already exist in Leicestershire, which is a different thing from what is open to apply for today.
